P V Sindhu, H S Prannoy crash out of Malaysia Open tournament

In Badminton, 21 seeded Indian shuttler, H. S. Prannoy lost to seventh-seed Indonesian Jontan Christie by 16-21, 18-21 in the quarter-final of the Malaysia Open 2022 tournament.   Earlier in the day P. V. Sindhu also crashed out in the quarters. In a hotly contested match, Sindhu lost to Taiwan's Tai Tzu Ying 21-13, 15-21, 13-21. Meanwhile, Parupalli Kashyap failed to make the last-eight round, going down to Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn 19-21, 10-21.

Lin Dan clinches Malaysia Open

Chinese badminton ace Lin Dan clinched the Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur today.  After an electric performance , he beat countryman Chen Long  9-21, 21-7, 21-11.  The title is Lin's first win this year, and also his first major success since taking the Malaysia Open in 2017.

K Srikanth crashes out of Malaysia Open

In Badminton, Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the Malaysia Open tournament after losing 18-21, 19-21 to Chen Long of China in a quarterfinal match in Kuala Lumpur on Friday. Srikanth was the only Indian left in the tournament as PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy had been knocked out earlier.  Earlier, Sindhu had lost 18-21, 7-21 to South Korea's Sung Ji Hyun in the second round on Thursday.

Malaysia Open: Sameer Verma loses to Chinese Shi Yuqi

In Badminton, India's Sameer Verma lost to Chinese Shi Yuqi in his opening campaign at Malaysia Open that began in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday. In a pulsating clash against World no 2, Sameer Verma suffered a 20-22, 23-21, 12-21 loss in a 65-minute men's singles.  Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy, however, made a good start to their campaign, eking out a 22-20, 24-22 win over Ireland's Sam Magee and Chloe Magee in mixed doubles.
