Indian Rupee Closes at 83.21 Against US Dollar; Dollar Index Up at 101.39

In the forex market, the Indian rupee closed at 83 rupees and 21 paise against the US dollar.   The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, was up, to trade at 101.39 in intra-day trade.
