Rupee closes at Rs 83.28 against the US dollar

In the forex market, the Indian rupee closed at 83 rupees and 28 paise against the US dollar.   The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, was down, to trade at 102.37 in intra-day trade.
