Market Update: Sensex rises 204 pts; Nifty settles at 23,399

India's Equity Benchmark Indices ended in Green today amid mixed global cues. The Sensex rose 204 points, or 0.27 percent, to close at 76,811. Nifty gained 76 points, or 0.33 percent, to settle at 23,399.   In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap indices up by 0.79 percent and the Small-cap indices climbed 0.89 percent. Dow Jones, S&P 500 surged 1.1 percent; Nasdaq climbs 1.3 percent

The three major US stocks climbed more than one percent yesterday. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq posted record closing highs after upbeat earnings and data suggesting the labor market may be stabilizing. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500, both surged 1.1 percent and the Nasdaq Composite index climbed 1.3 percent.
