Excise duty on petrol hiked by Rs 10/litre, Diesel by Rs 13/litre

Excise duty on petrol has been hiked by ten rupees and that on diesel by thirteen rupees per litre, effective from today. Centre provisioned the hike on auto fuels by an increase of eight rupees per litre in the form of road cess on both petrol and diesel.   An additional special duty of two rupees on petrol and five rupees on diesel has also been levied.
