Centre conducts test of its emergency alert system by sending sample messages to many smartphone users

Centre conducted a test of its emergency alert system by sending sample messages to many smartphone users across the country on Thursday. An alert was sent by the Department of Telecommunication as a test message to multiple mobile devices. The message was sent to TEST Pan-India Emergency Alert System being implemented by National Disaster Management Authority. NDMA is implementing the emergency alert system to enhance public safety and provide alerts during emergencies.
