Sensex drops 173 points; Nifty ends at 8,749

At the stock markets, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock exchange dropped 173 points, or 0.6 percent, to 29,894, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange slipped 43 points, or 0.5 percent, to end at 8,749.
