Sensex closes above 50,000, Nifty at 14,867

The Sensex and the Nifty on Thursday logged gains of more than one percent. The Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange closed above 50,000 mark amid strong gains in the global equity markets. The Nifty at National Stock Exchange settled above 14,800 level.   The Sensex surged 521 points, or 1.05 percent, to end at 50,030. The Nifty at National Stock Exchange also climbed 177 points, 1.2 percent, to finish at 14,867.

Sensex soars over 900 pts in opening trade; NIfty crosses 9,000

Equity benchmark Sensex soared over 900 points in opening trade this morning led by gains in financial, IT and FMCG stocks following rise in global equities on hopes of the COVID-19 pandemic approaching its peak. After hitting a high of 30,847.10, the 30-share BSE barometer was trading 925.67 points or 3.10 per cent higher at 30,819.63.
