Environment Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has emphasised that tackling air pollution is a collective responsibility of all the stakeholders. Chairing a meeting with representatives of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan , Uttar Pradesh and Central Pollution Control Board in New Delhi today, Dr. Vardhan expressed confidence that pollution will be tackled in a holistic manner next year. He reiterated that the practice of holding regular meetings with the Ministers of National Capital Region will be continued to tackle pollution. <br/><br/>During the meeting, it was decided to take strict measures for controlling dust pollution. All possible assistance will be provided to the MCDs by the Central Government for increasing the scope of mechanized sweeping. It was noted that the Task Force Committee headed by Principal Secretary to Prime Minister is examining the issue of stubble burning and an action plan to address this issue will be ready in the next one month. <br/><br/>It was also decided to launch a special Anti Pollution Drive in January next year for 15 days to tackle the issue of air pollution by all the agencies. Delhi Chief Minister who attended the meeting said that all sources that have been identified will be tackled to ensure that mitigation of air pollution is done effectively in Delhi. He added that City government will work closely with all agencies in tackling pollution.
