Tabling of AP bifurcation Bill: CM set to resign;YSR Cong & other parties call for Seemandhra bandh

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is all set to resign today following the passage of the Bill in Lok Sabha to bifurcate the state.

Several cabinet ministers have already put in papers as the Lok Sabha approved the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Bill-2014 yesterday. Official sources said Mr. Reddy has called for a meeting of his party leaders and MLAs this morning and is likely to explain why he is against bifurcation.

Three of his cabinet colleagues have resigned from Congress party and also from the ministry. Our correspondent reports that several political parties including YSR Congress have called for Seemandhra Bandh today protesting the division of the state.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said that the Bill will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha today.

The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj said that her party has extended full support to the passage of the Bill.
