India's Manika Batra defeated Leila Oliverira 11-5,7-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9 in the first match while compatriot Mouma Das beat Catia Martins 11-5, 11-9, 11-6. K Shamini then beat Patricia Maciel 11-1, 11-4, 11-9 to make it a clean sweep for India.The Indian women next play Nigeria. The Indian men's team, led by Achanta Sharath Kamal gave in to higher-ranked Nigerians rather meekly. Soumyajit Ghosh lost the opening match to Aruna Quadri 11-5, 11-4, 11-3. Sharath went down to Nigerian opponent 13-15, 6-11, 13-11, 5-11. Anthony Amalraj also lost the third tie 13-11, 8-11, 9-11, 8-11. The men play Switzerland tomorrow.
