In another match, Pakistan will clash with New Zealand at 3:30 PM in Pallekele. Yesterday, Australia defeated the West Indies by 17 runs via Duckworth and Lewis method at Colombo. The West Indies posted a formidable 191 for 8 in the stipulated 20 overs, after skipper Daren Sammy won the toss and opted to bat first. Fire Bladesman Chris Gayle top scored for the Caribbean with a quick fire 54, featuring 5 fours and 4 sixes. Marlon Samuels also chipped in with a valuable 50. In reply, Australia were 100 for 1 in 9.1 overs when rain interrupted play. Australia were declared winners as they were well ahead of the par score of the Duckworth and Lewis method. Aussie opener Shane Watson, who remained unbeaten on 41, was adjudged man of the match. Earlier, in a Group-C match, South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 32 runs at Hambantota.
