T20 WC: Australia beat Bangladesh by 27 runs while SA beat Afghanistan by 59 runs

Michael Hussey struck a sparkling 47 not out and Dirk Nannes took four wickets to help Australia beatBangladesh by 27 runs and qualify for the Super Eight stage of the Twenty20 World Cup at Bridgetown in Barbados yesterday. Australia now join Pakistan from Group A in the Super Eight stage and will take on India in their opening second round encounter tomorrow. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Australia made 141 for seven with Hussey and Steven Smith adding a vital 74 runs in seven overs. In reply, Bangladesh were all out for 114. Bangladesh, who have lost their last 12 matches in the Twenty20 World Cup, have been eliminated from the tournament. In another encounter, South Africa beat Afghanistan by 59 runs to enter the Super Eight stage. Put to bat first, South Africa made 139 runs for seven in stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Afghanistan could manage only 80 runs.
