T20 WC 2012 set for rousing finale

Sri Lanka will test their skills against the flamboyant West Indies when both sides battle for their maiden World Twenty20 title in a rousing finale in Colombo tomorrow. Mahela Jayawardene's home team will attempt to reverse fortunes after losing three finals in major meets since 2007. Standing in the way will be the destructive West Indies batting led by opener Chris Gayle, who crushed Australia in yesterday's semi-final with a scintillating 75 of 41 balls. Jayawardene has himself led from the front with 210 runs, being the fourth highest run-maker in the tournament. Sri Lanka are aiming to win the second world title after a gap of 16 years as their first and only World trophy came in 1996. The Caribbean side are playing a World event final after nearly 30 years, having last played against India at the Lord's in 1983.While Reigning champions Australia will aim for their second successive title when they take on 2009 winners England in the final of the ICC Women's World Twenty20 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo tomorrow. The two teams met in the final group match of the women's event in Galle, with England beating Australia by seven wickets. England has been undefeated throughout this tournament, posting decisive wins in its group matches and in the semi-final, played against two-time runners up New Zealand. Australia has lost only one match in the tournament, having beaten India and Pakistan in the group stages in Galle.
