T-20 World Cup: Host Sri Lanka to take on South Africa today

Host Sri Lanka will take on South Africa in a Group-C match of the ICC Twenty-20 World Cup Cricket tournament at Hambantota in Sri Lanka today. The match will begin at 3:30 PM (IST). In today's other match, which is a Group-B fixture, Australia will clash with the West Indies at 7:30 PM (IST) in Colombo. Last night, defending champions England thrashed Afghanistan by 116 runs in a Group-A match at Colombo. Put into bat after losing the toss, England amassed a mammoth 196 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs. Luke Wright top scored with a brilliant 99 not out, comprising 8 fours and 6 sixes. In reply, Afghanistan was bundled out for a paltry 80 in 17.2 overs, courtesy an accurate and hostile bowling performance from England. Stuart Broad, Samit Patel, Graeme Swann and Jade Dernbach bagged 2 wickets each. Wright was adjudged man of the match. With this defeat, Afghanistan's campaign in the tournament has ended. Afghanistan had lost its opening encounter by 23 runs against India, earlier this week. In yesterday's Group-D match, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by 59 runs at Pallekele. Wicket Keeper Brendon McCullum was named man of the match for a blistering innings of 123.
