The United States has accused the Syrian government of creating a humanitarian crisis and urged it to halt the crackdown on civilians. The White House urged Syria to give immediate and free access to the Red Cross to the country's northern region as thousands have fled across the Turkish border. Many came from the town of Jisr al Sughour where Syrian authorities claim more than a hundred security personnel were killed on Monday. Two refugee camps in Turkey are overflowing and a third one is being built. A media report says unverified video footage showing the Syrian military firing from the air on its own people. It was part of the government assault on what it called armed terrorist groups. But eye witnesses who fled into Turkey say the soldiers have used indiscriminate extreme violence. The violence in Syria has been going on for nearly three months inspired by the revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt. Syrians throughout the country have been out on the streets demanding change.
