A peace conference hosted by Russia that aims to end the conflict in Syria has agreed to set up a committee to draft a new constitution for the war-torn country. <br/><br/>A statement released after the talks calls for Syria's self-determination without foreign intervention and setting up a constitutional committee of government and opposition forces. <br/><br/>In his closing remarks, UN Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura said the main outcome of the talks was the declaration to set up a committee to draft a new constitution for the country under the auspices of the UN-led Geneva process. <br/><br/>Under the plan, the UN envoy will choose some 45 to 50 delegates who will be part of the committee from the government, the opposition and independent groups. <br/><br/>About 1,500 participants including Syrian government representatives and groups opposed to President Bashar al-Assad attended the talks held in the southern resort city of Sochi yesterday. <br/>
