Syria has rejected foreign intervention over its internal affairs. Foreign Minister Walid Muallem told in a news conference in Damascus that no one outside Syria can impose their point of view on the country. Repeating President Asaad’s call for dialogue foreign minister Muallem called Syrians to come and participate in the national dialogue, test the seriousness, and will of the Syrian leadership. He also told them not to incite demonstrations and violence, which according to him serves the enemies of Syria. Muallem also denied Western allegations that Syria had received any assistance from its ally Iran or Lebanon's militant group Hezbollah in putting down the protests. Mr. Muallem’s call has come when Western governments have been circulating a draft Security Council resolution condemning Assad's crackdown but Russia has warned it would veto such a move. European ministers have agreed on 20th of this month to beef up sanctions on President Assad.
