For a second day, the Syrian Government has launched a bloody assault on one of its own cities. Witnesses in Hama have described tanks indiscriminately shelling residential areas. A hospital is said to have been hit. More than 100 people were reported to have been killed by security forces on Sunday. The shelling intensified in the evening, as people were attending mosques for prayers to mark the end of the first day of Ramadan.Human rights groups said at least four people were killed in Hama on Monday.Meanwhile, the UN Security Council is due to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the situation.
