Syrian authorities have announced a full enquiry into the death of a 13-year old boy, who has become a symbol of the continuing uprising against President Bashar al-Assad. The move follows international outrage after a video footage of the boy, Hamza al-Katib, appeared on the Internet. The boy went missing after demonstrations before an army barrack near the city of Darra in the South in April where the security forces opened fire. Activists allege, Hamza was captured and tortured to death, but the authorities say, he received bullet shots and died on the spot. His body was, however, handed over to the family after four weeks.
