Syria: 30 people killed in latest air strikes in Aleppo city

In Syria, at 30 people were killed and hundreds injured in latest air strikes and ground offensive of Government forces and their allies in Aleppo city. Government forces and their allies attacked the opposition held Aleppo on several fronts in a new campaign aimed at wiping out rebel forces and retaking a city that is key to ending the five-year war. <br/><br/>The military and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based war monitoring group have said the army had made gains. Meanwhile, WHO has called for immediate establishment of humanitarian routes to evacuate sick and wounded from the besieged eastern part of the city. <br/><br/>A spokeswoman of the WHO said there were only 35 doctors left to care for hundreds of trapped patients, and the number of casualties was rising. Medical supplies were running out and there was a shortage of blood, she added.
