Voters in Switzerland have rejected by a large majority a proposal to appoint state funded lawyers to represent animals in courts. An AnimalsRights lawyer already operates in the city of Zurich and supporters say this will help prevent cases of cruelty to animals. A 'Yes' vote in the referendum would have introduced the same system throughout the country.
