Sixth seeded Shaina defeated Chisato Hoshi of Japan 21-12, 21-12 in the first round yesterday. Seventh seeded P.V.Sindhu beat Saannatasah Saniru of Malaysia 21-18, 21-15. In the Men's Singles, Parupalli Kashyap defeated Lucas Schmidt of Germany 21-15, 21-14, while Anand Pawar beat Tobias Wadenka of Germany 21-11, 21-4.
