The Swiss government has said that it has identified assets worth over 416 million US dollars that may belong to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi or his entourage. Swiss Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey revealed the figures yesterday at a diplomatic meeting in the Tunisian capital, Tunis. She also said that Switzerland has linked some 410 million francs in the Alpine country to the former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and 60 million francs to Tunisia's deposed autocrat, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. Switzerland has ordered banks and other financial institutions to freeze possible assets belonging to the three men and prevent the funds from being secretly withdrawn. The Swiss government also said that Tunisia and Egypt have already started legal proceedings to claim the assets.
