Swift, decisive response to any security challenge, assures PC

Home Minister P. Chidambaram today asserted that the security forces will act decisively with speed to deal with any security challenge. The statement assumes significance in the wake of intelligence inputs of a possible terror threat during the festive season. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function to inaugurate 22 new police stations in the national capital, Mr. P. Chidambaram said, security and intelligence forces are capable of dealing with any threat to the nation. He said, the Centre is taking steps to further strengthen intelligence network in the country and there is no need to panic.<br/><br/>The Home Minister asked the Delhi government to conduct large scale awareness programmes to involve the people of the Metro in the Commonwealth Games. Mr. Chidambaram lauded Delhi police officers for the arrest of top naxal leader Kobad Gandhi following a tip off by the intelligence agencies.
