<span style="color: #222222;">'Swarnim Vijay Mashaal', or the victory flame that symbolises India's victory over Pakistan in 1971 reached Nagaland capital Kohima today from Dimapur. It was received by Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) Major General VPS Kaushik with full military honours and placed at Kohima Garrison War Memorial.<br />'' <br />'' On the occasion, Major General Kaushik along with Chairman Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) Nagaland Lieutenant General Amarjeet Singh Bedi, DGP Nagaland T J Longkumer and IGP (Intelligence) Martin Pienyü and war veterans of 1971 offered tributes by laying wreaths at the War Memorial followed by a tree plantation.<br />'' <br />'' During his address, Major General Kaushik said, the victory flame signifies the hallmark of valour, sacrifice and fortitude of our brave soldiers who scripted victory over the 1971 war. He described the war veterans as a source of inspiration for all. On the occasion, 1971 War veterans from the state were also felicitated.  Later in the evening, a roadshow was organised in Kohima town with the Victory flame.<br />''<br />''The celebration of 50 years of the victory ' Swarnim Vijay Varsh began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi lighting the Victory Flame on 16th  December last year. The Flame was lit from the eternal flame of the National War Memorial, signifying the bravery of the soldiers of the war. Since then, the Flame is travelling across the length and breadth of India and a large number of commemorative events are being conducted during its journey.</span>
