Swachh Survekshan launched in national capital

Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Narendra Singh Tomar today launched Swachh Survekshan-2018 in New Delhi. <br/><br/>The third in the series Survekshan will rank all the 4,041 cities and towns of the country based on infrastructure development for improved sanitation services and their sustainability, outcomes, citizen connect and visible impact on ground. Mr Tomar also released a comprehensive Survey Tool Kit, explaining the methodology, weightages and new features and thrust areas that helps cities and towns prepare for the field survey over the next six months.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Mr Tomar said, this first Pan-India sanitation survey will start on 4th January next year. He said, it will assess sanitation levels in all the cities and towns of the country impacting the lives of about 40 crore urban people and is the largest of its kind in the world. <br/><br/>He said, the results of two previous such surveys announced in 2016 and 2017 have generated substantial excitement and enthusiasm among the cities and citizens besides promoting a healthy competition among all the stakeholders.<br/><br/>The Minister informed that the methodology and weightages for this Surekshan have been modified to certain extent based on extensive consultations with city and state governments, experts and other stakeholders.<br/><br/>To further inspire the people to participate in the Swachhata Jan Andolan and connect themselves with this Survekshan, Minister of State for Heavy Industries Babul Supriyo released a song 'Swachhata Ki Jyot Jagi Hai' as the anthem for the survey. This song conceived by Mr Supriyo has been scripted by renowned lyricist Prasoon Joshi and Shankar Ehsaan Loy provided the music. The song has been rendered by Babul Supriyo, Udit Narayan, Shreya Ghoshal, Alka Yagnik and others. <br/><br/>The song also has messages of Amitabh Bachhan and Sachin Tendulkar. This song will be dubbed into regional languages for wider outreach.
