Swachh Bharat Mission completes one year

The ambitious Swachh Bharat Mission which aimed at cleaning country's cities and villages today completed one year. The campaign, inaugurated to coincide with Gandhi Jayanti, aims to realise its vision of Clean India by 2nd of October, 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. <br/><br/>Under the mission, 4 lakh 65 thousand toilets have been built in the urban areas since the inception of the scheme last year. Under it, the target is to construct 25 lakh household toilets in urban areas till March next year. <br/><br/>In the national capital MCDs, NDMC, Delhi Metro and Delhi Police undertake cleanliness drive in different areas on to mark the day. On the occasion, Cabinet Secretary P.K Sinha inaugurated Swatch Toilet in South Delhi Municipal Corporation area. <br/><br/>The toilet is completely eco-friendly with facility of solar lights. Urban Development Secretary Madhusudan Prasad also launched Swachta Abhiyan at Connaught Place this morning.
