Inspired by Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the Government and voluntary organisations along with a number of people are making wholehearted efforts to make river Ganga clean and ensure its continuous flow in Uttrakhand.<br/><br/>Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmath Niketan in Rishikesh stressed on the need to create awareness and develop green corridor along with green crematoriums on the river banks.<br/>Head of Gayatri Parivaar, Haridwar, Dr. Parnav Pandya said their organisation will undertake greenery development and construction of bio-digester toilets along the Ganga. <br/>Ganga and its tributaries in Uttrakhand are not fully free from pollution. The Co-ordinator of Ganga Aahwan Akhara, Haridwar, Rameshwar Gaur said people throng to Haridwar during Kumbh Mela and Shivratri. They should be sensitised about the ill effects of dumping garbage into the river. <br/>The cleanliness of the Ganga depends on the uninterrupted flow of the river. Maha mandleshwar of Juna Akhara, Haridwar, Swami Awadheshanandji Maharaj said Namami Gange is a big step in maintaining the smooth flow of Ganga. He stressed that cleaning the river should become people's movement.<br/><br/>Along with the efforts of NGOs and voluntary associations, there is a need to start a public campaign from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar to clean the life giving and sacred Ganga of the dirt and poisonous substances.
