In Gujarat, the total number of Covid 19 cases crossed 2000 mark today with 127 fresh cases reported in the last 15 hours. Maximum 67 cases have been reported from Surat followed by 50 from Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad based Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Science and Research became the first authorized study centre in the country to carry out plasma research under trial in view of Covid 19. The MoU was signed between ICMR and the institute in this regard yesterday night.<br />'' <br />'' AIR correspondent reports, SVP institute is a government hospital run by City Municipal Corporation which has become a major treatment centre for Covid 19 patients. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vijay Nehra said the institute has successfully identified the potential donors for the research and started collecting their plasma. He said plasma transfusion was successfully done on the first recipient yesterday whose condition is stable now.. He said in the coming days, more such transfusions will be carried out as part of the research of using the therapy for Covid 19 treatment. Meanwhile, the Institute has also successfully done the C Section delivery of 30 year old Covid 19 patient yesterday which is first such case in the state. Looking at the success of the institute in the fight against Covid 19, AMC decided to double the bed capacity of the hospital from the current 500 beds to 1000 beds from tomorrow. <br />''  <br />
