Suu Kyi: Businessmen of Myanmar keen to invest in India

The Chairperson of National League of Democracy of Myanmar Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi has said that the businessmen of her country are keen to invest in India. This will help further widen the bilateral trade.Ahead of her five day visit to India, Suu Kyi cautioned India about being over optimistic about political changes in her country. Ms. Suu Kyi reached New Delhi today. She was received at the airport by Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai. During her stay in Delhi, she has a hectic schedule. Ms. Suu Kyi is delivering Nehru Memorial lecture on the birth anniversary of Pandit Nehru tomorrow. She will call on Vice President, Prime Minister and Speaker of the Lok Sabha to discuss a whole range of issues, apart from visiting her alma mater leady Sri Ram College. During her stay in India she will be traveling to Bangalore to visit Indian Institute of Science and Infosys campus and also visit some rural areas of Andhra Pradesh. Ms. Suu Kyi has come to India on the invitation of government to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh visited Myanmar in May this year to strengthen trade links. 12 Agreements including security , development of border areas, trade and transportation were inked between the two governments during Dr. Singh's visit.
