President Pranab Mukherjee said, sustaining higher education has become a major challenge in the country and elsewhere in the world. Addressing the first convocation of the English and Foreign Languages University-EFLU in Hyderabad this evening, the President said, increasing cost of education, market-oriented fast-track learning, dominant communication systems and deficit of trust are the challenges that the higher education institutions are confronted with today. <br/><br/>He opined that such challenges can be tackled only through administrative strength of institutions. On the occasion, Mr Mukherjee commended EFLU for emerging as one of the best universities in South Asia in the areas of language sciences, teacher education and research. <br/> <br/>Later, the President was felicitated by the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Easwariya Viswavidyalaya. On the occasion, Mr Mukherjee said, though economic growth, technological strides and scientific pursuit are needed, it is peace and happiness which are important for mankind.<br/> <br/>Earlier, the President lighted the lamp to mark the 80th anniversary of Brahmakumaris.
