The Prime Minister says, a sustained and dynamic India-US partnership is essential to meet the global challenges of 21st century. In a statement prior to his departure to the United States and Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Manmohan Singh said, New Delhi attaches high priority to its relations with the United States. He said, in his meeting with President Obama, issues like international terrorism, climate change, global economic slow down, WTO talks, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation will be reviewed. Dr. Singh said, he will also discuss the situation in Afghanistan and other regional issues. He said, that at bilateral-level, New Delhi looks forward to building upon the strategic dialogue by adding greatest substance to co-operation in areas like trade and investment, services, energy, science and technology, defence, high technology trade, education, agriculture and health. The Prime Minister said the last several years have witnessed a transformation in Indo-US ties and today they are characterised by greater maturity, depth and convergence of interests. Our Correspondent reports that terrorism emanating from Pakistan is expected to be high on the agenda. Dr. Singh, who will be the first foreign leader to be hosted as State Guest by the Obama Administration. He will be in Washington for four days and will also address the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and business leaders of the two countries.
