Suspected Maoists attack C'garh minister's residence; security guard killed

In Chhattisgarh, a security guard of the Women and Child Development Minister Lata Usendi was killed by suspected naxalites last night. The incident occured at her residence in Kondagaon, the headquarters of the newly formed Kondagaon district, in the Bastar division of the state. The minsiter was not present at the time of the attack.The two motor cycle-borne attackers reached the residence of the minsiter and opened indiscriminate fire at the gun-man, killing him on the spot. They also looted one INSAS rifle from him.The act of the maoists targetting the residence of a minister of the state in the heart of the Kondagaon town at aound 8 pm last night, has cuased a flutter of fear among the unwary residents. Police has launched a search operation in the area to nab the assailants.Security personnel have been deployed in and aorund the residence of the minister at Kondagaon. Meanwhile, the chief minister Dr. Raman Singh, taking the matter seriously held a high level meeting in Raipur laast night and ordered the replacement of the Superintendent of Police of Kondagaon Mr,Dipak Jha with Mr. Prasant Agrawal with immediate effect. In a simialr act a couple of years ago the maoists had killed the brother of another ministter of the state soon after a family function in the Bastar division of the state.
