External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today successfully underwent a kidney transplant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS in New Delhi. <br/><br/>The surgery was conducted by a team of doctors, including AIIMS Director Dr. MC Mishra. In a statement, AIIMS said the operations on both the voluntary Kidney Donor and Mrs. Swaraj were smooth. <br/><br/>Both the patients have been shifted to Intensive Care Unit in the cardiothoracic Centre for close monitoring of post-operative recuperation. <br/><br/>According to doctors, the 64 year old Minister has been suffering from diabetes for quite a long time. After the kidney failure diagnosis, she was put on maintenance dialysis.
