External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj reached Colombo for a two day visit this afternoon. She was received at the Bhandaranayake International Airport by Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera.<br/><br/>Ms Swaraj will co-chair the 9th session of the India-Sri Lanka Joint Commission meeting along with her Sri Lankan counterpart and meet the top political leadership in the country in a bid to boost bilateral ties.<br/><br/>In her first official engagement for the day, Ms Swaraj will shortly call on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, before co-chairing the 9th session of the India-Sri Lanka Joint Commission meeting. At the Joint Commission, all issues related to boosting bilateral cooperation will be discussed. <br/><br/>India's development assistance to Sri Lanka will be reviewed and the problem of fishermen of two countries trespassing into each other's territory will be taken up. The discussions are expected to give direction to ongoing negotiations on Economic and Technological Cooperation Agreement, which both the sides eager to sign by end of the year. <br/><br/>Tomorrow, Ms Swaraj will meet President Maithripala Sirisena, leaders of Tamil National Alliance and other political parties. She will also inaugurate Digital India Exhibition, which is being organized as a part of Festival of India in Sri Lanka.
