Entrepreneurs and representatives of small scale businesses have asked the government to resolve the GST issue at the earliest. In a meeting with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in Mumbai today, these representatives demanded that the government should also ensure a uniform power tariff across states, an increase in export subsidy and certain tax relief for the growth of their businesses. Ms. Swaraj is in Mumbai today to hold a series of meetings with different interest groups ahead of the Union Budget.<br/><br/>In another meetings with the minorities, the Muslim community discussed issues like lack of jobs, immigration problems and difficulties faced while accessing financial services. Ms. Swaraj said that all Indian consulates have been asked to hold open house sessions to interact and resolve issues affecting NRIs. She said that government will take proactive steps to ensure that none of the Indian employees abroad are duped or forced into illegal works. Regarding an increase in Hajj quota for Indian Muslims, the minister said talks are on with Saudi authorities.<br/><br/>As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's outreach program, Ms. Swaraj is also scheduled to meet representatives of textile sector, students, youth, women self-help groups, CAs, legal and medical professionals, teachers, unorganised labourers and businessmen. Apart from hearing their problems and demands; the minister will apprise people of the work done by the NDA government.
