Sushil Kumar wins silver in Freestyle wrestling

At the London Olympics today, wrestler Sushil Kumar won India a silver medal in the 66 kg category of Freestyle wrestling. Sushil lost 1-3 to Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu of Japan in the finals of the wrestling event. 29 year old Sushil, a bronze medalist from the 2008 Beijing games has created history by becoming the first Indian to win back-to-back Individual Olympic medals.

This is India's second medal from Wrestling in the London Olympics after Grappler Yogeshwar Dutt claimed a bronze in the 60 kilogram class of Freestyle wrestling yesterday. With Sushil's medal, India's medal tally in the 30th edition of the Games has increased to two silver and four bronze, surpassing the one gold and two bronze medals they won in Beijing four years ago.

In Athletics, in the Men's Marathon event, India's Ram Singh Yadav finished at the 78th spot completing the race in 2 hours 30 minutes and 6 seconds. The gold in the event went to Stephen Kiprotich of Uganda who clocked 2 hours, 8 minutes and 1 second.

The 2012 London Olympic Games will end today with a glittering closing ceremony tonight, which is be titled “A symphony of British Music”.

The United States lead the medals table with a haul of 44 Gold, 29 Silver and 29 Bronze. China are at the second spot with 38 Gold, 27 Silver and 22 Bronze. Hosts Great Britain follow in the third position with 28 Gold, 15 Silver and 19 Bronze.

With two silver and four bronze , India are at the 55th position.
