Survey of India launches 4-week long training programme for Thai surveyors

The Survey of India has launched the four-week long training programme for Thai surveyors. The Surveyor General R M Tropathi has launched the training programme in Hyderabad this morning. The Indian Institute of Surveying and Mapping, a training wing of the Survey of India (SOI) will provide training to the Thai Surveyors especially in analyzing geo-special data. <br/><br/>The Survey of India and the Geo-Informatics and Space Development Agency (GISTDA) of Thailand had entered into an agreement under the Look East policy of the Government in 2013 for cooperation in the geo special area. Speaking on the occasion, Tripathi said the SOI took up mapping of U-Thong city in Suphan Buri province of Thailand and completed photography of the area was completed and GPS observation points have already been identified. He said the whole project will be completed October this year.<br/><br/>On urban mapping, Mr Tripathi said the SOI has completed urban mapping for 152 towns and ready to take up 400 more towns in the country. He said the the advanced techniques of Urban Mapping gains significance in the wake of launching of Amruth cities in the country.
