Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today ruled out any proposal to privatise the railways. In reply to questions in the Lok Sabha, he said foreign direct investment or FDI has been permitted only in specified areas to attract capital. This does not entail privatization of the railways in any way. <br/><br/>He underlined that railway operations are undergoing reforms. Project approvals have been put on a fast track with emphasis on innovation and application of information technology.
