Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu today emphasized on more investment in railway to develop the rail services in the country. He said that railway can play the biggest role in development of infrastructure in the country for decades. He said this while addressing a program in Jaipur after the inauguration of several railway projects in Rajasthan. <br/><br/>Criticizing the previous governments for slow speed of laying rail lines on daily basis, Mr. Prabhu said that his ministry has fixed target to lay around 19 kilometer of rail line per day in next 2-3 years. <br/><br/>He said the his ministry has also decided firmly to convert all meter gauge lines into broad gauge and doubling the 16,500 kilometer long lines for better and fast rail services. The Rail Minister said that electrification of rail lines will be doubled from the current 42 per cent, within next five years.
