Suresh Prabhu chairs Round Table Conference on improving Indian Railways catering services

Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu today chaired a Round Table Conference on improving the quality of catering services provided over Indian Railways in New Delhi. Representatives from the food and beverage industry, self help groups, Railway board members and officials are among those who participated in the conference. Indian Railways provide 11 lakh meals to passengers every day. The catering service in Railways is provided either through departmentally managed catering arrangements or through private licenses. In order to improve quality of catering services and establishing good governance standard, Railways proposes to address the problems by distinguishing between food preparation and food distribution and by partnering with reputed players in the food and beverage industry.
