<span style="color: #222222;">In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered Director General of Police to take stern action against the perpetrators of the murder of BJP leader Surendra Singh in Amethi district. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Yogi Adityanath asked the state police chief to show results within 12 hours and an IG rank of officer has been send to oversee the investigation. So far seven people have been taken into custody and they are being interrogated.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, MP of Amethi Smriti Irani, who was in Delhi, flew to Amethi, where she met Surendra Singh's family and consoled them. Smriti Irani and State Minister Mohsin Raza participated in the funeral rites, which was attended by a larger number of people. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Police said that it is suspected that an old enmity may have led to the killing, but they have not ruled out a political motive. Surendra Singh's son also alleged that after election result came a victory procession was carried out and may be some Congress supporters didn't like it. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Surendra Singh was the former head of Baraulia village, which was adopted by ex-defence minister Manohar Parrikar in 2015. He had actively participated in Smriti Irani's Lok Sabha campaign.</span><br />
