Surat's man-made fabric sector gradually resuming operations

Out of the 6.5 lakh units across the city, over 2000 power loom units have started operations. The industry which is worst hit by the lockdown and return of migrant workers to their states, is reviving slowly with more and more weaving units are opening up. Talking to AIR, President of Federation of Surat Textile Traders' Association Chamapalal Bothra said over 2000 units have resumed operations but the economic activity will be revived only after opening of market. <br />''<br />''He said the industry is hopeful about the opening of market for limited hours during lockdown and the state government has been requested for the same. Meanwhile, Secretary of Sachin GIDC Mayur Golavala said the over 15 power looms units resumed operations in GIDC area with around 30 percent labours yesterday. <br />''<br />''He said following the announcement of economic package for MSME sector, many other looms also expressed their desire to reopen the units. He expressed hope that migrant workers will return to the city with the resumption of industrial activities. </span><br />
