The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea seeking to stall the release of Bollywood film Padmavati outside India. The petitioners had alleged that the makers of the movie had misrepresented facts before the court with regard to Censor Board's approval on releasing songs and the promo. <br/>'<br/>Taking serious note of statements made by persons holding power or high office about the movie, the Apex court said, it is<br/>tantamount to pre-judging it. The court said such statements are violative of the principle of Rule of Law as Censor Board is yet to certify the movie.<br/>'<br/>Earlier, the apex court had dismissed the plea seeking to delete certain alleged objectionable scenes from the movie. It also observed that the CBFC has not yet given the certificate to the movie and the apex court cannot "injunct" a statutory body from doing its duty. The movie has been facing the wrath of various social groups and political leaders, who have accused Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali of distorting history.
