Supreme Court directs Haryana Government to stop illegal mining in Aravali Hills within two weeks

Supreme Court has asked Haryana government to stop all illegal mining and stone crushing in Aravali Hills in two weeks or face contempt of court proceedings.

A bench of Justices FMI Kalifulla and AK Sikri sought a fresh site inspection report from its environmental panel.

The apex court said that despite numerous orders by the court banning illegal mining, it still continued in the State.

The court also asked Haryana government to file an affidavit along with a status report on stoppage of illegal mining within two weeks.

The order came on a PIL filed by a NGO, which said illegal mining caused immense damage to the environment and ecology of the area.
