Delhi Police today said that the death of Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of former Union Minister, Shashi Tharoor, was unnatural and caused by poisoning. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Police Commissioner B S Bassi said that the medical board's report has confirmed that Sunanda's death occurred either through oral consumption of poison, or through an injection. He said that the police have registered a case of murder against an unknown person.
Mr. Bassi said all concerned persons, including Mr. Shashi Tharoor will be questioned in the case. Sunanda Pushkar was found dead at a hotel in Delhi in January last year.
Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor said that he is stunned by the filing of FIR against unknown persons by Delhi police in Sunanda Pushkar's death. He demanded thorough investigation in the case so that the truth comes out. He also demanded details on the basis of which the police have come to the conclusion that Sunanda Pushkar was poisoned.
Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that filing of FIR is beginning of the legal process. He however questioned the considerable delay in filing the FIR.
