Sumitra Mahajan asks EPFO to expand its coverage to those epmloyed in unorganised sector

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has said that Employees' Provident Fund Organisation should make efforts to motivate the employers to deposit their contribution towards Employee Provident Fund. <br/><br/>Addressing the 65th foundation day celebrations of EPFO in New Delhi on Wednesday, Ms Mahajan asked the EPFO to expand its coverage to those epmloyed in unorganised sector. <br/><br/>She also lauded the efforts to digitalize the services of the organisation for the benefit of the fund subscribers. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Santosh Kumar Gangwar said, EPFO has taken a long jump since its inception in 1952 and has achieved various milestones in last 65 years. He said, the number of beneficiaries has gone up from 5.5 lakh to 4.5 crore employees. <br/><br/>Mr. Gangwar further stated that EFPO now covers more than 10 lakh establishments across the country. <br/><br/>The Labour Minister said that EPFO has started various new initiatives to accelerate the process of online registration of employers and is spreading the coverage area of its schemes for workers in unorganized sector.
