Government says a suitable decision will be taken on the Telangana issue after the consultation process is over. Replying a call attention motion by Sushma Swaraj and others in the Lok Sabha today, the Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram appealed all sections of people in Andhra Pradesh to allow consultation process to conclude. He reiterated the appeal of the Centre, that peace and harmony and law and order should be maintained in Andhra Pradesh.The Home Minister said that four out of the eight political parties of the region have not taken a final decision on the issue. He appealed to all political parties to take a final call on the issue as early as possible to take forward the process. He said that he will call another all party meeting once the remaining parties reach a consensus. Mr Chidambaram stated that the decision has to be made by the people of Andhra Pradesh and the Centre can only facilitate the solution. He gave the details of the measures taken by the government to address the issue and referred to the Sri Krishna Committee report which gave six possible options on the way forward. He made it clear that the Committee looked in the both demand of a united Andhra Pradesh and possibility of carving out a separate state of Telangana. Mr. Chidambaram referred to the all party meeting convened by him on 6th of January this year in which he requested the political parties of Andhra Pradesh to consider Sri Krishna Committee Report.Speaking on the call attention, the leader of the opposition Sushma Swaraj and CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta supported the demand of separate Telangana while respecting the sentiments of people of entire state.
