Suicide car bombs rock Baghdad

In Iraq, according to the latest figure, of 33 people were killed and nearly 200 others were wounded in the deadly Baghdad attacks that took place yesterday. According to unconfirmed reports the toll is 42. The spokesperson for the Baghdad Operations Command Maj. Gen. Qassem Ata told Voice of Iraq news agency that the blasts were caused by three car bombs driven by suicide bombers. He said the security forces had foiled a fourth suicide car bomb attack when they shot dead the attacker and defused his explosive-laden vehicle in Baghdad central neighborhood of Masbah. <br/><br/>The fourth bomber was targeting the headquarters of police tasked with protecting foreign embassies. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, presided over a meeting of the national Security Council to discuss the developments. A release by the Iraqi foreign ministry said that several policemen guarding these buildings were killed or wounded but none of diplomats were harmed except slight injuries of three members of the Egyptian mission. <br/><br/>Three suicide bombers coordinately struck the Iranian embassy, the consulate office of the Egyptian embassy, the residence of German ambassador and the Egyptian consulate office in Baghdad's western district of Mansour.
